PowerHERing the Future: From Wind Power to Shared Power

Winchai Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Sermsang Power Corporation Public Company Limited (SSP), continues to elevate the quality of life for communities surrounding the Romklao Wind Farm project in Mukdahan Province Thailand through the Year 2 "POWER FOR CHANGE" campaign under the concept of “Share, Create, Transform – For People, For Planet, For Future.” The company donated essential consumer goods and supplies to relieve the basic cost of living for destitute individuals and vulnerable women in the Self-Help Land Settlement. This initiative runs alongside the "PowerHERing the Future Project," which aims to drive structural change through the "Mushroom Cultivation for Happiness House”, fostering opportunities and equality for sustainable self-reliance.

"The PowerHERing the Future Project," has shifted its focus from short-term relief to economic empowerment for 11 vulnerable women and destitute individuals in the Self-Help Land Settlement. This reflects clear progress since the project's inception in 2025, when the company established a solid foundation by funding the construction of the mushroom cultivation house, providing comprehensive equipment and raw materials, and coordinating with local experts to conduct skills training. This initiative has enabled these women to access decent work, acquire technical skills, earn stable supplementary income, restore human dignity, reduce gender inequality, and allow previously overlooked women to play a vital role in driving the grassroots economy and supporting their families with dignity.

Building on the foundation of career creation, the project has achieved concrete success entering 2026. According to the latest monitoring and evaluation conducted on July 24, 2026, the mushroom cultivation house is thriving and yielding at full capacity. A team of 5 employee volunteers spent 2 hours on-site engaging in activities with community members, jointly harvesting fresh produce from the facility. This created a dual-benefit outcome: using the yield directly for meal preparation to reduce household expenses and selling the surplus in local markets to generate continuous supplementary income. Additionally, during this site visit, the team met closely with settlement officials and the women's group to listen to concerns, exchange ideas, and collaboratively map out long-term development strategies.

These initiatives represent a concrete application of international sustainability and human rights frameworks, including UN Women’s Women’s Empowerment Principles (UN WEPs), UNDP’s Leave No One Behind (LNOB) concept, ILO’s Decent Work agenda, and the protection of the Right to Food and Right to Work under OHCHR and UDHR. The efforts directly respond to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals)—reaffirming Winchai Co., Ltd.’s commitment to operating a clean energy business alongside sustainably enhancing the quality of life for women and communities.
