UPT Joins Forces with KPN for "Planting Love on Mother’s Day toward a Green Industry" Expanding Green Spaces, Creating Natural Buffers, and Driving Organizational Sustainability

The biomass power plant in Sikhio District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province—operated by Uni Power Tech Co., Ltd. (UPT), a subsidiary of Sermsang Power Corporation Public Company Limited (SSP)—partnered with its O&M contractor, KPN Co., Ltd. (KPN), to organize a corporate social and environmental responsibility event titled “Planting Love on Mother’s Day toward a Green Industry” on August 20, 2026. Held along the perimeter fence and surrounding areas of the plant on National Mother’s Day, the initiative aims to expand green areas, cultivate environmental awareness, and foster employee unity and engagement. This reflects the company's commitment to clean energy operations that create lasting value and achieve sustainable growth alongside the environment.

The event originated from the company’s dedication to operating its biomass power plant in harmony with environmental stewardship. Recognizing the importance of ecological restoration and establishing a Green Buffer Zone to capture airborne dust and mitigate surrounding environmental impacts, the initiative also promotes collaboration between internal staff and partners to enhance the quality of life and create a sustainable workplace environment.

During the event, 19 volunteer employees—comprising 7 members from UPT and 12 from KPN—collaborated in digging holes, planting, and watering trees along the plant's fence line and surrounding grounds. Together, they planted a total of 102 perennial and valuable timber trees (achieving 204% of the original target of 50 trees), including 50 Casuarina equisetifolia (horsetail trees) to serve as windbreaks and dust barriers, 30 Afzelia xylocarpa (Makha Mong), 18 teak trees, and 4 Millettia leucantha (Sathon). In addition to enhancing shade and improving the plant’s landscape, these trees function as a natural buffer that absorbs carbon dioxide and restores local biodiversity.

The event generated multifaceted benefits for both the environment and organizational development. It reinforced dust-trapping barriers around operational areas, mitigated environmental impacts, expanded green cover, and created a pleasant work atmosphere. Furthermore, it strengthened relations and cooperation between the UPT and KPN teams, raised environmental awareness among staff, and elevated the organization’s image as a certified Green Industry.

According to a satisfaction survey of 10 participants, the event achieved an exceptionally high satisfaction level across all dimensions, including management, personnel, activity format and content, benefits gained, and corporate image. The overall average score reached 4.70 out of 5.00 (94.00%), demonstrating the event’s success and the employees' united commitment to advancing a green organization.

The "Planting Love on Mother’s Day toward a Green Industry" initiative aligns directly with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles and supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • SDG 13 (Climate Action): Expanding green cover to absorb greenhouse gases and mitigate climate change impacts.
  • SDG 15 (Life on Land): Planting perennial and native timber trees to restore local ecosystems and enhance biodiversity.
  • SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals): Fostering collaboration between UPT and KPN teams to execute joint social and environmental initiatives.

The company remains committed to pursuing environmental and corporate social responsibility activities continuously. By nurturing a green organizational culture and employee participation, it aims to safeguard the environment, elevate Green Industry standards, and deliver sustainable value to all stakeholders under the vision: “Expanding Green Spaces, Balancing the Environment, and Uniting in Partnership toward Sustainable Development.”
