SSP Learn & Preserve Activity: The Quest for the Nature Guru of the Year In Celebration of the International Day for Biological Diversity

Under the theme "Acting locally for global impact: The Power of Taking Action for Nature," which reflects a sustainability vision from local to global scales. This year, SSP drove this vision through internal corporate communication activities aimed at campaigning and raising awareness for the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB), observed annually on May 22nd.

The initiative aimed to emphasize to employees the critical importance of ecosystems as "Natural Capital." This year's campaign aligns with the 23 targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KM GBF), communicating that "small actions from all our hands can create a massive global impact." This reinforces SSP’s sustainability strategy, which elevates our commitment from mitigating impacts (No Net Loss) to achieving true net benefits for the planet (Net Gain / Net Positive).

The Company disseminated articles and biodiversity knowledge to employees by extracting key success lessons from the SSP GREEN HAVEN: Protecting Life, Preserving Nature project (located at the Sermsang Palangngan Solar Power Plant in Khok Samrong District, Lopburi Province). This project operates under the AR3T framework (Avoid, Reduce, Restore, Transform), highlighting the following key aspects:

  • Habitat Management:
    • Wetland Habitat: Preserving wetland areas, which led to the discovery of new species in 2025, such as the Lesser Whistling Duck and the Great Cormorant, as well as serving as a resting site for migratory birds.
    • Open Area Habitat: Managing open spaces to serve as foraging grounds for species like the Red-wattled Lapwing and the Pied Bushchat, which act as natural pest controllers.
    • Vegetation & Buffer Zone: Establishing an Ecological Corridor to mitigate Habitat Fragmentation.
  • Ecological Rebalancing: Showcasing quantitative success data, including a 380% increase in the red junglefowl population (from 10 birds in 2024 to 48 birds in 2025) and a significant increase in bird species diversity from 18 to 31 species (totaling 785 birds).
  • Deep Dive into Global Bio-indicators: Educating employees about "dragonflies" as a biological indicator of water purity, and the role of "birds" as a reflection of overall ecosystem health.
  • Community Connectivity: Communicating the Company's commitment to transferring knowledge to surrounding communities, confirming that clean energy operations and natural ecosystems can grow together sustainably.

To assess understanding and foster engagement, the Company organized an online "SSP Green Haven: Biodiversity Quiz." The activity received strong interest from employees across various departments, with a total of 30 participants. The participants demonstrated an excellent grasp of the content, with 15 employees achieving a perfect score (correctly answering all 15 questions), representing 50% of the total participants.

SSP’s Drive Towards Global Goals

Organizing this awareness campaign and executing initiatives at the power plant level are not limited to local success; they tangibly integrate "Local Action" into the "Global Agenda."

This initiative was not only successful in simplifying complex scientific and ecological data into accessible information, but it also effectively stimulated interest and elevated the knowledge of employees across multiple business units. This reflects our success in embedding a sustainability DNA within the corporate culture, reinforcing that SSP's personnel are fully prepared to jointly propel the Company towards its Nature Positive goals on a global stage robustly and sustainably.
